No. However, the clients are responsible for getting the kayaks off the trailer and into the water and then back onto the trailer at the end of the tour. In agreeing to this we know that you are strong enough to participate in this activity. This applies to ALL adults, unless prior arrangements are made. The main objective of our tours is to observe nature, so the tours are relatively leisurely, but we do have to contend with wind and currents.
-
For environmental reasons we ONLY use tandem kayaks. This way the guide can communicate with the clients more easily than if there were double the number of kayaks. Another VERY important reason we use tandems is to avoid the intrusion of twice as many kayaks in the animals’ environment. These kayaks handle like a single if you are alone in one.

Upon meeting at the appointed time we will take care of sign-in and go over some safety information and then get the equipment in the water. This takes approximately a ½ hour. At the completion of the tour we allow another ½ hour to get all the equipment put away.
-
We have had children as young as 3 years old and as old as 90. These are double kayaks so you can work together. A third person, under the age of 6, can fit into an extra seat if necessary.
-
You do not need to bring any equipment. All the necessary equipment is provided by GAEA Guides. You will be provided with kayaks, paddles, life jackets and seat cushions.
-
GAEA Guides provides everything you will need to have fun, but if you’d like, you can bring your own equipment. There is no reduced rate if you’d like to do so.
-
We generally paddle about 2 miles per hour. However, that is all dependent on our group size, how often we stop to observe the wildlife, etc.
-
We ask that you dress for the weather as our tours run in light rain and other moderate weather conditions. We advise t-shirts and shorts, shoes that will get wet going in and out of the kayak, sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat and bug repellant for our evening trips.
-
Sorry, no alcohol is allowed.
-
This is Florida so we do have bugs. In some areas we may encounter biting insects (mosquitoes or no-see ums) but, a little bug repellent usually takes care of them! However, we rarely need it, but it doesn’t hurt to have it.
